Was your first thought when you heard about swapping, “what if my things are damaged or stolen?” If it was, it’s normal. We (founders) felt just like you when we did our first swap. 

Our homes are precious to us. They are our safe spaces full of sentimental things and memories.  After having swapped for almost a decade, we can reassure you that when you look around your living room, kitchen, etc. when you’re back, you’ll feel all warm inside.. Your home will likely be better than you left it, the air fresh, the floor clean, your plants alive.

We also know that accidents happen. Just like in your own day-to-day life, you may break a glass, your daughter may pull down a curtain, your toddler may spill grape juice on the carpet. It may also happen to guests when they are in your home. In this case we will make sure that your home is restored to its original glory with the £50,000 home guarantee we provide to you.

Frequently asked questions and their answers

  • Only if it makes you feel more comfortable. We’ve noticed that people hide things away when they’re doing their first or second swap.

    However, after three or four swaps they understand the culture, feel more relaxed and leave their home as it is. We suggest you do what makes you feel comfortable.

  • It’s very rare in the culture of home swapping for things to be stolen or damaged. The whole experience is very different to hotels and Airbnbs. People treat your home better than their own, and they expect the same care from you.

    And for your additional peace of mind, we provide you with a €50,000 guarantee in case the smallest thing is not quite right.

  • Firstly, we are always on your side and assume positive intent when you claim. We don’t just compensate, we take care of the whole process so that it’s hassle-free for you.

    For example, if you had a spill on the sofa, we will compensate and advise you on the best methods and professionals to have it cleaned.

    The claim process is straightforward. In the 10 days of returning home, contact us on heretohelp@keybento.com and we’ll take it from there. Most claims are resolved within 2-5 days of providing us with the needed information.

  • We check member IDs (passport/National ID/driving licence), contact details (email and phone number) and address.

    We also pass their information through databases used by hotels and insurance companies to make sure that these individuals have never caused any damage in other accommodation.

    If there is any history of damage, they are not allowed to become members. Our community consists of trustworthy, genuine families that you can be confident to host in your home

  • No, you do not need home insurance to benefit from our contents guarantee. Your contents or things are guaranteed whether you do or you don’t have home insurance.
